My working life has been focused around supporting and enabling people to live fuller lives. I have a background in working with the elderly in both a residential and home setting; with young people with learning and physical challenges and Asperger’s and autism and with adults with mental health and addiction challenges.

As a teenager I was interested working with both the elderly and children and young people.  From 15, I was a weekend care assistant in an elderly residential home.  I then provided summer camp support to young people with intellectual, emotional and physical challenges and worked as an Au Pair abroad. After university, I was a volunteer citizen’s advice worker and then a TEFL teacher.  Subsequently, I trained in both drug and sexual health awareness providing workshops in East London based schools. After which I trained as Social Worker and worked in the substance misuse field for several years becoming a senior social worker, team leader and supervisor. Once I became a mother to my two children, I was home based and focused on our life as a family and my children’s needs until they both began school. I then developed my massage and reflexology business, Aloha Therapies. I have recently trained as a somatic, body oriented coach.

I had a very close relationship with my much-loved Granny as I was growing up and until she died. I enjoyed the time we spent together sharing our stories and interests and feel grateful for that experience of a close and loving bond.  I am again drawn to supporting and enhancing the lives of the elderly and those who are unable to lead full and active lives through companionship, listening and appropriate touch.  Touch is a baby’s first experience of loving communication and is an essential lifelong need with a host of emotional and physical benefits associated with it. Warm, attuned, responsive relationships are shown to help support and sometimes alleviate depression, isolation, overwhelm, low mood and despair.  I offer both with the aim of improving the quality of an individual’s experience of life. Please don’t hesitate in contacting me for more detailed information should you feel the support I offer may be of benefit.
