About Lisa

I was instinctively drawn to Lomilomi Massage following the death of my Dad, as I experienced a need for safe, soothing touch, to feel held and nurtured and to support my body and mind in releasing strong emotions. I feel passionate about the healing potential of Lomilomi and very much enjoy giving this beautiful body work.

Reflexology, supporting emotional and physical health through the feet, has been an interest of mine for several years and I would buy books from the charity shop’s and practice on myself and family. To complete the training, which included treating 100 pairs of feet!, has been an important journey for me through a transformational time in my life.

I have worn a number of ‘working hats’ since aged 15, when I began weekend work as a care assistant to the elderly, responsible for washing and personal care amongst other duties.

I have been a volunteer for Citizens Advice, Body Positive, Newham Drugs Team, and Drugs and the Law telephone support. In my early 20s, I worked as a TEFL teacher in Prague, then used the skills gained to teach drugs education and sexual health to London school children. Before having children and working as a full time Mum, I was a Team Leader, Senior Social Worker and Supervisor for Newham Substance Misuse Team. I have a BA honours in Sociology and Social Policy and a Masters in Social Work.

With a lifelong interest in psychology, I have had some training in counselling and brief therapies including Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing for Health Changes.

I experience body work as another means for offering support and care to others, just as I continue to receive both for myself and understand implicitly how essential this is for more balanced emotional and physical health. Receiving and giving both lomilomi and reflexology offers me the opportunity for further self-learning, accepting and caring; the experience nourishes me, and it is my intention that those who receive it will feel nourished too. I feel lucky that my work requires a relaxed state of mind and offers quietening, meditative flow as an essential aspect of what I do. There have been many times in my life when I have needed extra support to feel OK and begin again the work of opening to myself and the people around me.
